Student lifeClick thumbnail to enlargeNightlife in RondaAlthough Ronda is a small town of only 50,000 or so, the nightlife here is quite good. There many bars in town that stay open until 3am. All of these places are located in the center of town, within 10 minutes walking distance from our various host family locations and student apartments. Some of the best bars in town include Huskies, La Goyesca (great place to meet Spaniards), New Baco, Atrium(great live flamenco music during the summer), Bar Nevada, Bar Bourbon, La Botellita, Cybercafe, and Dulcinea.There are 2 nightclubs in Ronda worth mentioning: El Templo, and Que me Dices (opens around 2:30 or 3am, closes at 7 or 8am).ReligionThe predominant religion in Ronda is by far Catholicism., with communities of Jews and Muslims. However, there are also temples for Evangelist.EmbassadorsDuring your stay in Spain, try to think that you are an emabassador of sorts, representing your country. The locals here in Spain will look upon you as an example of what the rest of your fellow countrymen are like. You should always strive to set a good example and to treat everyone you come across with the same respect that you seek for yourself.IntercambiosA great way to improve your Spanish speaking ability and to meet new friends is to sign up for an intercambio with a local Rondeño. An intercambio is when a student signs up to meet with a local Spaniard and both practice speaking Spanish and English with one another over a cup of coffee or some tapas. There are many young locals who are very interested in improving their English speaking abilities, and willing to help students improve their Spanish as well. Many of our past students have made friends for life through intercambios, even coming back to visit after several years! Internet and PhonesWhile studying at the language center here in Ronda, students will have access to both a computer lab and wifi internet free of charge. Ronda also has many internet cafés which charge anywhere from 1 to 1.50 euros per hour of use. Please be aware that most of our host families do not have internet access in their homes available for the students.Sports in RondaIn Ronda you will have the opportunity to participate in many sports activities such as soccer, basketball, rugby, tennis, handball, paddle tennis, mountain biking, paintball etc. There are also private gyms available in Ronda where you can exercise and/or sign up for various martial arts classes.The local indoor swimming pool will allow you to swim even during the winter months. At the pool you can also join the water polo team.
